Halfway between Hualien and Taroko Gorge, lies Pratan

in Taroko-zu "三棧 Sanjhan" (THREE PEAKS)  in Mandarin.

There's a story as to how the locals settled here,

but any fool can see why.

Once an outpost on the old 9 Highway

the freeway turned away,

and nature took it back..
